About User Agent Parser

Find out which browser, version, operating system, device type, engine and CPU a User-Agent string describes. The tool reads your own browser's user agent on opening and, where the browser offers Client Hints, also shows the real Windows version, phone model and bitness. It recognises common Indian-market phones and browsers, search engine crawlers and link-preview bots such as WhatsApp and Telegram, and gives the result as JSON.

How to Use

1

Start with a user agent

Your browser's user agent is filled in for you. Paste another one from a server log or analytics report, or pick a sample.

2

Read the result

Check the browser, operating system, device, engine and CPU, and read the notes about what the string can't tell.

3

Copy the JSON

Click Copy JSON to use the parsed result in a bug report, test or script.

Privacy & Processing

  • Mode: local
  • Files Leave Browser: Local tool processing; review details below
  • Max Input Size: Device memory limits
  • Account Required: No
  • Data Stored Locally: Nothing is saved in this browser.
  • Network Processing: Assets or models may require an initial download

Parsing happens in your browser. Your own user agent and Client Hints are read locally and never sent anywhere.

Rules & Limitations

  • A user agent can be changed or faked by anyone, so treat it as a hint, not proof. Verify crawlers such as Googlebot by their IP address.
  • Chrome's reduced user agent reports Windows 10 and 11 both as "Windows NT 10.0", every Android phone as "Android 10; K" and minor versions as 0.0.0.
  • Browsers report macOS as 10.15.7 whatever the real version, and iPads using Safari's desktop setting look like Macs.
  • Browsers that copy Chrome's string exactly, such as Brave, can't be told apart from Chrome; Client Hints (shown for your own browser) can name them.
  • Device names come from model codes such as SM-S918B; the tool names the maker for common brands but not the marketing name.

User Agent Parser FAQ

What is my user agent?

It is shown in the box when the page opens. It is the text your browser sends with every request to say which browser and system it is, for example Chrome on Windows or Safari on iPhone.

Why does my Windows 11 PC show as Windows 10?

Browsers froze the Windows version in the user agent at "Windows NT 10.0" for both Windows 10 and 11. Chromium browsers share the real version through Client Hints, which this tool reads and shows as Windows 11 when the platform version is 13 or higher.

Why does an Android phone show as "Android 10; K"?

That is Chrome's reduced user agent, which hides the real Android version and the phone model for privacy. Websites can ask for the model through Client Hints instead.

How can I tell if a visitor is a bot?

Most crawlers name themselves, such as Googlebot, bingbot, GPTBot or facebookexternalhit, and this tool flags them. Because anyone can copy those names, confirm important crawlers with a reverse DNS lookup of their IP address.

What is the difference between a user agent and Client Hints?

The user agent is one fixed text string sent with every request. Client Hints are separate values (platform version, model, architecture) that Chromium browsers send only when a site asks, and they are more exact.

Is the user agent I paste sent anywhere?

No. Parsing happens in your browser and nothing is uploaded or stored.
