About Image Compressor

Make images smaller without uploading them. Smart mode balances size and quality, Lossy makes the smallest files, and Lossless never changes a pixel. You can also convert to WebP, JPEG or PNG and shrink very large photos, compare before and after, and download images one by one or together as a ZIP.

How to Use

1

Add images

Drop, choose or paste up to 50 PNG, JPEG, WebP or SVG images, 25 MB each. Compression starts right away.

2

Adjust settings

Pick a mode and quality, an output format and an optional maximum size. Use "Recompress all" to apply new settings to images already added.

3

Compare and download

Check any image with the before/after slider, then download it on its own or everything as a ZIP.

Rules & Limitations

  • If compression cannot make an image smaller, the original is kept and labelled.
  • Animated PNG and WebP files are not supported, so they are left unchanged.
  • Very large images may be too big for a phone's memory; resize them first.
  • Lossless mode never changes pixels; for JPEG photos it only removes hidden metadata such as camera details.

Image Compressor FAQ

How do I compress an image without losing quality?

Choose Lossless and keep the format and size unchanged: PNG and WebP images are repacked without changing a pixel, and JPEG photos only lose hidden metadata such as camera details. Smart, the default, also keeps the pixel-perfect version whenever it is nearly as small as the compressed one.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Compression runs in your browser, so your images never leave your device, and nothing is kept after you close the page.

Can I compress an image to a specific size, like 100 KB?

Not by typing a target: this tool has no target-size setting. Set Output format to JPG or WebP, lower the quality and pick a smaller Resize option such as 1280 or 800 px, then click Recompress all; each image shows its new size. To stay under a limit automatically, use the Image Compressor in the Universal Conversion Suite, which takes a target size in KB.

How do I convert PNG or JPG images to WebP?

Set Output format to WebP before adding images, or change it later and click Recompress all. With the format left on Same, an image shows a Use WebP button whenever WebP would make it at least 10% smaller. WebP keeps transparency, unlike JPG.

How many images can I compress at once?

Up to 50 images, 25 MB each. Drop files or a whole folder, paste, or browse; once every image is done, Download all saves them as one ZIP.

Which image formats are supported?

PNG, JPEG, WebP and SVG. You can keep the format or convert to WebP, JPG or PNG, while SVGs are cleaned up and stay SVG. GIF, HEIC and animated PNG or WebP files are not supported; convert HEIC photos to JPG in the Universal Conversion Suite first.
