Background Remover FAQ
How do I remove the background from a photo?
Drop, paste or choose a photo on this page. The AI finds the subject and removes the background in your browser; keep it transparent or pick a colour, gradient, photo or blurred background, touch up any edge with the brush, then download PNG, WebP or JPG.
Is it free, and does it add a watermark?
Yes, it is free and needs no sign-up, and downloads have no watermark. They keep the photo's full size unless it is too large for your browser (over 40 megapixels, or less on some phones), in which case it is reduced first.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. The AI model runs in your browser, so your photos never leave your device. Only the model (about 4 MB for Fast, 42 MB for Quality) and the AI engine are downloaded from this site the first time, and your browser keeps them for next time.
How do I make the background transparent or white?
For a transparent background, leave Background on None and download PNG or WebP; JPG cannot store transparency, so it saves the background as white. For white or any other colour, choose Colour and pick a preset or your own colour, for example for a profile or ID photo.
Can I remove the background from many photos at once?
Yes, up to 50 photos at a time, 60 MB each. The background, edge and download settings apply to every photo, you can still open any one to touch it up, and Download ZIP saves them all together.
How do I fix rough edges around hair?
Under Adjust, switch Edges to Soft (hair, fur), or run the photo again with the Quality model, which is slower but cleaner on busy photos. Then use the touch-up brush to erase leftovers or restore parts the AI missed, with undo.
