About Audio Trimmer & Cutter

Cut the part of a song, voice note or recording you want and save it as MP3, M4A, WAV or an iPhone ringtone (M4R). Drag the handles on the waveform or type exact times to a tenth of a second, play the selection on a loop to check it, and add a fade in or out. Everything runs in your browser, so your files are not uploaded.

How to Use

1

Add an audio file

Drop or choose an MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG or FLAC file, or a video to take its sound from (up to 500 MB).

2

Select the part to keep

Drag the two handles on the waveform, or type the Start and End times (for example 0:45.5). Press Play to hear the selection on a loop, or Last 3 s to check the ending.

3

Choose format and fades

Pick Save as: Same as original (fastest, no quality loss), MP3, M4A, iPhone ringtone (M4R) or WAV. Add Fade in or Fade out if you like.

4

Cut and download

Click Cut audio, listen to the result, then click Download. The first cut downloads the audio engine (about 31 MB) from this site.

Privacy & Processing

  • Mode: local
  • Files Leave Browser: Local tool processing; review details below
  • Max Input Size: Device memory limits
  • Account Required: No
  • Data Stored Locally: Nothing is saved. Your file and the cut stay in memory until you close the page.
  • Network Processing: Assets or models may require an initial download

Your audio is processed in your browser and never uploaded. The audio engine (FFmpeg) is downloaded from this site the first time you cut.

Rules & Limitations

  • The first cut downloads the audio engine (FFmpeg, about 31 MB) from this site; the browser caches it afterwards.
  • Files up to 500 MB. The whole file is copied into memory, so very large files may fail on phones. The waveform is skipped for files over 200 MB.
  • Same as original copies the audio without re-encoding, so cuts land on the nearest audio frame (a few hundredths of a second). Fades always re-encode.
  • Same as original is not offered for videos; choose MP3, M4A or WAV for them.
  • iPhone ringtones must be 40 seconds or shorter.

Audio Trimmer & Cutter FAQ

How do I make a ringtone?

Add the song, drag the handles around the part you want (about 20 to 30 seconds), and add a 1 s fade in and fade out. For Android choose MP3; for iPhone choose iPhone ringtone (M4R), keep it under 40 seconds, then add the file to your iPhone with Finder, iTunes or GarageBand.

Are my files uploaded?

No. The file is cut by FFmpeg running inside your browser and never leaves your device. The only download is the audio engine itself, from this site.

Does cutting reduce the quality?

Not with Same as original: the audio is copied as it is. Converting to MP3 or M4A re-encodes at 192 kbps, which is hard to tell apart from the original; WAV is uncompressed.

How precise is the cut?

You can set times to 0.1 seconds. When converting or fading, the cut is exact; with Same as original it moves to the nearest audio frame, which is usually within 0.03 seconds.

Can I cut the sound from a video?

Yes. Drop an MP4, MOV or WebM video, choose the part, and save it as MP3, M4A or WAV. To convert a whole video's sound, the Universal Conversion Suite (MP4 to MP3) is quicker.
