About CSV ↔ JSON Converter

Convert CSV files to JSON and JSON back to CSV as you type, with a table preview. It detects the delimiter (comma, semicolon, tab or pipe), turns numbers and true/false into values, lists rows that need a look instead of failing, and flattens nested JSON into columns such as address.city. CSV downloads open correctly in Excel, including Hindi and other Indian scripts. It runs in your browser.

How to Use

1

Choose the direction

Pick CSV → JSON or JSON → CSV. Paste your data, click Open file, or drop a .csv or .json file on the input box.

2

Adjust the options

Set the Delimiter or Separator, whether the first row has headers, and whether numbers and true/false are detected. The output and Table preview update at once.

3

Copy or download

Click Copy or Download. Keep Excel-friendly download on when the CSV will be opened in Excel.

Privacy & Processing

  • Mode: local
  • Files Leave Browser: Local tool processing; review details below
  • Max Input Size: Device memory limits
  • Account Required: No
  • Data Stored Locally: Nothing is saved; the input is cleared when you leave the page.
  • Network Processing: Assets or models may require an initial download

Files and text are converted in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

Rules & Limitations

  • Rows with too few or too many values are converted anyway and listed as warnings with their line numbers.
  • Values with leading zeros, such as 007 or a phone number starting with 0, stay text. Turn off number detection to keep every value as text.
  • For JSON → CSV, the input must be a list of objects or lists, a single object, or an object holding one list.
  • Nested objects and lists become dotted columns (address.city, tags.0); the reverse conversion does not rebuild the nesting.
  • Files up to 20 MB can be opened; the table preview shows the first 50 rows.

CSV ↔ JSON Converter FAQ

How do I convert a CSV file to JSON?

Choose CSV → JSON, then click Open file or paste the CSV. The first row becomes the keys of each object; turn off First row is headers to get lists instead.

Why does Hindi text look broken when I open a CSV in Excel?

Excel guesses the wrong text encoding for plain UTF-8 files. Keep Excel-friendly download on: it adds a UTF-8 marker at the start of the file so Excel reads Hindi and other scripts correctly.

What happens to nested JSON?

Nested objects and lists are flattened into dotted column names, for example address.city and tags.0, so every value gets its own column.

Why is my CSV with semicolons not split into columns?

Set Delimiter to Semicolon if detection guesses wrong. CSV files saved by Excel in some European languages use semicolons instead of commas.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Files are read and converted in your browser and never leave your device.
