About Word Search Puzzle Generator

Make a printable word search puzzle from your own words. Choose the grid size and whether words can run diagonally or backwards, add a title and Name and Date lines, then print it or save it as a PDF with the answer key on a second page. English and Indian scripts such as Hindi (Devanagari) work, and words that need changing or do not fit are listed, so nothing disappears silently.

How to Use

Enter your words

Type one word per line, give the puzzle a title and pick a grid size from 10 × 10 to 20 × 20.

Choose the options

Turn Diagonal words and Backwards words on or off, and decide whether to add Name and Date lines and an answer key page.

Generate and check

Click Generate puzzle. Read any notes about words that were changed or left out, and use Show answers to see where the words are.

Print or save as PDF

Click Print or save PDF. Page 1 has the puzzle and word list, page 2 the answer key. Choose Save as PDF in the print dialog to keep a file.

Rules & Limitations

English words are turned into capital letters A to Z: spaces, accents, hyphens and digits are removed, and the changes are listed.
Words longer than the grid, repeated words and words in a different alphabet from most of the list are left out and listed.
In Hindi and other Indian scripts each square holds one letter with its vowel sign; the filler letters come from your words.
Each puzzle is random, so click New puzzle for a different layout. Nothing is saved after you leave the page.
