About Duplicate Line Remover

Remove duplicate lines from a list as you paste it, and see how many were removed and which lines repeated. Keep the first or last copy of each line, or remove every line that repeats. The same tool sorts lines A to Z, Z to A, naturally or by length, reverses their order, shuffles them and removes blank lines. It runs in your browser.

How to Use

Paste your lines

Paste a list into "Your lines", one item per line, or click Example.

Choose the options

Under Duplicates pick Keep first, Keep last, Remove all copies or Keep all, then an Order. Turn on Ignore case, Trim spaces or Remove blank lines if needed.

Copy the result

The result and a summary such as "120 lines → 87 lines · 33 duplicates removed" update straight away. Click Copy or Download. Repeated lines lists each repeated line and how many times it appeared.

Rules & Limitations

Lines must match exactly, including case and spaces, unless you turn on Ignore case or Trim spaces.
Trim spaces also removes the spaces in the result, not only when comparing.
Blank lines are never treated as duplicates: they stay where they are unless you turn on Remove blank lines. Sorting and shuffling move them to the end.
Natural order sorts numbers by value (2 before 10); A to Z follows your browser's language rules.

How do I remove duplicate lines from a list?

Paste the list into "Your lines". With Keep first selected, the result keeps the first copy of every line and removes the rest; click Copy to use it.

Can it ignore upper and lower case?

Yes. Turn on Ignore case and lines such as "Delhi" and "delhi" count as the same; the copy that is kept keeps its own spelling.

How do I keep only the lines that appear once?

Choose Remove all copies. Every line that appears more than once is removed completely, leaving only the lines that were unique.

How do I sort lines alphabetically or reverse their order?

Choose Keep all under Duplicates if you want to keep repeats, then pick Sort A to Z, Sort Z to A, Natural, a length order or Reverse lines under Order.

Is there a limit on how many lines I can paste?

There is no fixed limit. Lists of a hundred thousand lines work, though very large pastes may take a moment on older phones.

Is my list uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything runs in your browser, and the list is not saved after you close the page.
