Spine Animation Viewer FAQ
How do I open a Spine animation file?
Drop the .json or .skel skeleton together with its .atlas file and the atlas images, then click Show animation. All three kinds of file are needed: the skeleton holds the bones and animations, the atlas maps the images.
Why does my Spine export not display?
Most often an atlas image is missing or renamed, or the export is from a Spine version the runtime cannot read. The file list marks missing images, and a note appears when the file comes from Spine 3.x or 4.0. Re-export with Spine 4.1 or later if needed.
What is the difference between Spine JSON and .skel?
They hold the same skeleton. JSON is readable text and is more forgiving across versions, while binary .skel files are smaller and faster to load but must match the runtime version exactly.
Are my Spine files uploaded?
No. Your files are read in your browser and never uploaded. The only download is the Spine runtime script from unpkg.com when you click Show animation, which is checked against a fixed hash before it runs.
Who makes the Spine runtime used here?
Esoteric Software, the maker of the Spine editor. The runtime is published as @esotericsoftware/spine-player and is covered by the Spine Runtimes License.
