About Timezone Converter

Convert a date and time from one city or time zone to another, see it in a list of world cities, and find meeting hours that suit two to four places. It uses your browser's time zone database, so daylight saving changes in the US, UK, Europe and Australia are handled, and it shows abbreviations such as IST, EDT and BST with a +1 day marker when the date changes. Useful for anyone in India working with teams or family abroad.

How to Use

1

Choose the From and To places

From starts as your own time zone. Type a city, country or abbreviation in From or To, such as India, IST, New York, London or Dubai, and pick it from the list.

2

Set the date and time

It starts at the time now. Change the Date and Time, or click Now to go back to the current time. The result updates as you type, and the arrow button swaps the two places.

3

Plan a meeting

In Meeting planner, set the working hours and add up to two more cities. Highlighted hours are inside working hours; a green outline means everyone is working. Tap an hour in the first row to use it.

4

Keep a world clock

The World clock shows the chosen time in your list of cities. Add or remove cities; the list is saved in this browser.

Rules & Limitations

  • Times come from your browser's time zone database, so a very old browser may not know the latest rule changes.
  • On the night clocks go forward, a time that does not exist (such as 2:30 am in New York on 8 Mar 2026) is moved forward by an hour, and the tool says so.
  • When clocks go back, a repeated time (such as 1:30 am in New York on 1 Nov 2026) uses the first one.
  • The planner counts Monday to Friday as working days in each city and does not know public holidays.

Timezone Converter FAQ

What time is it in New York when it is 9 pm in India?

It depends on the date: New York is 9 hours 30 minutes behind India during US daylight saving time (mid-March to early November) and 10 hours 30 minutes behind the rest of the year. Enter the date and time to get the exact answer.

Does it handle daylight saving time?

Yes. Each conversion checks the offset in force at that exact moment, so dates near the US, UK, Europe and Australia clock changes come out right. India does not use daylight saving time.

What is the difference between IST and UTC?

IST (India Standard Time) is UTC+5:30 all year. UTC is the world reference time with no daylight saving, and GMT is the same as UTC for everyday use.

How do I find a good meeting time for India and the UK?

Set From to India and To to London, then look at Meeting planner. Hours outlined in green are inside working hours in both places, usually early to late afternoon in India.

Why does my browser list Asia/Calcutta instead of Asia/Kolkata?

Some browsers still use the older name. They are the same zone; this tool shows it as India (Asia/Kolkata), and you can search for either name.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. All conversions run in your browser using its built-in time zone data, and nothing is uploaded.
