About Date Difference Calculator

Count the days between two dates, or find the date a number of days, weeks, months or years before or after another. The difference is shown in days, in years, months and days, and in weeks and days, with working days for a Monday to Friday or Monday to Saturday week. You can include the end date for leave counts. It runs in your browser.

How to Use

1

Choose a mode

Between two dates counts the gap. Add or subtract finds a date, such as the end of a notice period or a due date.

2

Enter the dates

Pick the start and end dates, or press Today. For Add or subtract, enter the start date, choose Add or Subtract and fill in years, months, weeks or days.

3

Set the counting options

Turn on "Include the end date" to count both the first and last day, and choose Mon–Fri or Mon–Sat for working days.

4

Read and copy the result

The total and the breakdown update as you type. Press Copy result to share them.

Rules & Limitations

  • By default the end date is not counted (1 to 30 April is 29 days). Turn on "Include the end date" to count it (30 days).
  • Public holidays are not known, so they are counted as working days.
  • Adding months keeps the day of the month where it can: 31 January plus 1 month is 28 February (29 in a leap year).
  • If the end date is before the start date, the dates are swapped and a note says so.
  • Dates use your device's calendar; daylight saving changes don't affect the day counts.

Date Difference Calculator FAQ

How many days are there between two dates?

Enter both dates and read the total at the top. It counts from the start date up to the end date; turn on "Include the end date" if both days should count, as in leave applications.

How do I count working days between two dates?

Choose Mon–Fri or Mon–Sat under Working week. The Working days line counts those days in the range. Public holidays are not removed, so subtract them yourself.

How do I calculate my notice period end date?

Choose Add or subtract, enter the date you resigned, and add the notice period in days or months, for example 90 days. If your company counts the resignation day as day 1, subtract one day from the result.

Why is 31 January plus one month 28 February?

February has no 31st, so the date moves to the last day of February. This month-end rule is the usual one for due dates and is also used for years, months and days differences.

Are the dates I enter sent anywhere?

No. Everything is calculated in your browser and nothing is stored.
