About YouTube Thumbnail Downloader

See and download the thumbnail images of any YouTube video in every size YouTube publishes: max resolution (1280 × 720), standard (640 × 480), high (480 × 360) and medium (320 × 180). Paste a watch, youtu.be, Shorts, live, embed or YouTube Music link, or just the video ID. Sizes that don't exist for a video are hidden instead of showing a grey placeholder.

How to Use

1

Paste the link

Copy the video's link from the Share button or the address bar and paste it into the box, or click Paste. The video ID is found as you type.

YouTube Thumbnail Downloader FAQ

How do I download a YouTube thumbnail?

Paste the video link into the box. The thumbnails appear in every available size; click Download under the one you want, usually Max resolution.

Can I download the thumbnail of a YouTube Short?

Yes. Paste the Shorts link (youtube.com/shorts/…) like any other link. Shorts thumbnails use the same sizes as normal videos.

What is the highest quality YouTube thumbnail?

Max resolution, which is 1280 × 720 pixels. If a video doesn't have one, Standard (640 × 480) or High quality (480 × 360) is the best available.

Why is the max resolution thumbnail missing?

YouTube only creates it for some videos, mostly newer HD uploads. When it is missing, YouTube returns a small grey placeholder, which this tool detects and hides.

Is it legal to use YouTube thumbnails?

Thumbnails are copyrighted by the video's creator. Using your own is fine; for anyone else's, get permission unless your use is clearly fair, such as a short review or news reference.

Is my link sent to ToolKit360?

No. Your browser loads the images straight from YouTube's image server (img.youtube.com), so YouTube sees the request, but nothing goes to ToolKit360.
