About Countdown Timer

Two timers in one. Timer counts down hours, minutes and seconds and rings when time is up, with quick 1, 5, 10, 15 and 30-minute buttons. Until a date counts the days, hours, minutes and seconds to an event such as Diwali, Holi, Independence Day, an exam or a wedding, keeps a list of your events and gives you a link to share. It runs in your browser.

How to Use

1

Choose Timer or Until a date

Timer is for minutes and seconds, like cooking or a test. Until a date is for counting down to a day and time.

2

Set the time

For a timer, type hours, minutes and seconds and click Start, or click a quick button such as 5 min. For a date, click a festival or Your own event, then set the name, date and time.

3

Get the alert

When a timer ends you hear a chime, phones vibrate and the tab title says Time is up. Click Turn on notifications to also get an alert while you are in another tab.

4

Share or pop out

Click Copy share link to send a date countdown to someone. Pop out keeps a small always-on-top window (Chrome or Edge 116 or later on a computer).

Privacy & Processing

  • Mode: local
  • Files Leave Browser: Local tool processing; review details below
  • Max Input Size: Device memory limits
  • Account Required: No
  • Data Stored Locally: Your date events and last timer length are saved in this browser (localStorage key toolkit360_countdown); clear site data to remove them.

Everything runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded; a share link carries only the event name and date in the address.

Rules & Limitations

  • Times use this device's time zone and clock.
  • Diwali and Holi follow the lunar calendar; the preset uses the date listed by Indian panchangs, which can differ by a day in your region.
  • Phones pause web pages when the screen locks or you switch apps, so a timer that ends then rings when you come back. The time shown stays correct.
  • Desktop notifications need your permission, asked only when you click Turn on notifications.
  • A running minutes timer is not kept if you reload or close the page; saved date events are kept.

Countdown Timer FAQ

How do I set a timer for 5 minutes?

Choose Timer and click the 5 min button; it starts at once. For another length, type the hours, minutes and seconds and click Start.

How many days are left until Diwali?

Choose Until a date and click Diwali. The tool shows the days, hours, minutes and seconds left to the start of Diwali day in your time zone. Festival dates follow the lunar calendar, so check a local calendar.

Will the alarm ring if I switch to another tab?

Yes. On a computer the chime plays in a background tab, and with notifications turned on you also get a notification. On phones the alarm plays when you return to the tab.

Can I share my countdown with friends?

Yes. Click Copy share link and send it. Anyone who opens the link sees the same event and countdown, and it is added to their list.

What happens after the date has passed?

The countdown turns into a count-up and shows how long ago the event was, so you can also track things like days since a start date.

Is my event data uploaded?

No. Events are saved only in this browser. A share link contains just the event name and date you chose to share.
